Choose your model

Pick from one of the three available commercial models: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), or ChatGPT (OpenAI). All three offer a free tier that you can use.

Prompting tips

Give the model enough background so that it knows what you are talking about. For example, “Why is the response exponential?” could be interpreted many ways. Instead, try “Why is the response of a first-order system to a step input exponential?”

Working with math equations

The AIs think about equations in LaTeX format. I encourage you to read up on it, but the TL;DR is:

• Enclose your equations in $
• Write your equations like you would in MATLAB
• use _ for subscripts
• use / or \frac{}{} for fractions

Example:

Write $G(s) = \frac{V_o(s)}{V_i(s)}$ in an AI-friendly format

Two ways:

1. $G(s) = \frac{V_o(s)}{V_i(s)}$
2. $G(s) = V_o(s)/V_i(s)$

Example:

Write $G(s) = \frac{1}{2s^3 + 5s + 4}$ in an AI-friendly format

Two ways:

1. $G(s) = \frac{1}{2s^3 + 5s + 4}$
2. $G(s) = 1/(2s^3 + 5s + 4)$
